Burberry Kinesis

The Ask

In collaboration with Cotton Incorporated, this project was to create a denim line for a luxury company, utilizing cutting-edge technology and modern marketing strategy.

Process

  • We researched Burberry’s history, target market, and current product offering along with trends in the market to decide on a menswear direction.

  • Identifying our target market, we segmented it into three age groups in order to more effectively market across demographics.

  • Starting from sketches, we carried our 8 looks from idea to digital illustration and finally to 3D renderings in CLO3D.

  • To appeal to our target customers, we chose to partner with Formula 1 driver Lewis Hamilton to create collaborations and charity events.

Technical Design

To fully showcase the work required to create a collection, we also used Adobe Illustrator for technical design, specification packs, and cost sheets. Each was diligently researched and filled to create a realistic picture of the behind-the-scenes aspects of fashion design. We dove into sourcing to find legitimate factories that could produce our line, and included specific measurements for ease of manufacturing. As our group’s Technology Lead, I created these flats and tech pack to further record our groups designs in a professional manner.

Technology

Echoing current industry standards, we implemented numerous softwares to create a more realistic project. The entire collection was rendered in CLO3D, showcasing a 3-dimensional visualization of our designs with realistic fabric properties. AI was used to create a mockup social media campaign featuring our motifs and celebrity collaboration. Packaging was also rendered in Adobe Photoshop. As the group’s Technology Lead, I created these items to flesh out the presentation and provide realistic implementations of our ideas.

Outcome

After all of our hard work, Burberry Kinesis was selected to win the Fall 2023 Cotton Incorporated Grant. It was an enormous honor and a testament to this amazing team.
